Code of Conduct
This page outlines the expectations for conduct from participants, parents/guardians, spectators and coaches at Mighty Netball. We hold all in our community to a high standard of sportsmanship and this code of conduct allows us to promote a safe, rewarding, and fun sports environment where children can have fun and flourish.
Code of Conduct for Players
- I will arrive on time and be netball ready at every session
- I will be honest, fair, and respectful to others at all times
- I will encourage my teammates and praise good efforts whilst appreciating that everyone has different levels of ability and confidence
- I will play fairly and won’t cheat or complain
- I will take care of all equipment and use it safely and responsibly
- I will always be sporting – whether I win or lose – and always acknowledge the other team and the umpires at the end of the game with a hand shake or three cheers
- I will never argue with an official/coach or participant during a session or match and will respect the decisions made.
Code of Conduct for Families
- I will endeavour to get my child to the venue in plenty of time to start so as not to disrupt the session, and will ensure my child is netball ready
- I will respect players, coaches, officials and spectators at all times
- I will refrain from coaching from the sidelines as this can be confusing for the players
- I will applaud effort, good play and sportsmanship as well as success on court
- I will remain outside the field of play as instructed by the coaches
- I will encourage the players to respect each other and coaches
- I will avoid criticising a player or coach/umpire for making a mistake
- I will not engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour
Code of Conduct for Coaches
- I will ensure I arrive on time, and netball ready and will contact Mighty Netball to advise if I am running late
- I will coach with the goal of creating a positive learning experience for the participants. Winning games is secondary to building a positive sporting experience for all involved
- I will put the emotional and physical well-being of the participants ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will follow all safety protocols of Mighty Netball and the venue
- I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved
- I will treat all coaches and participants with respect and represent the Mighty community in a positive manner
- I will behave in such a way that I am recognised as a positive role model
